Ann Durand

Ann Durand, aka Kathe Gogolewski, was born and raised in northern California near San Francisco in a very leafy neighborhood. She spent much of her childhood hiking the wild hills of Orinda with her three brothers and a sister. As an adult, she taught grade school while raising a daughter. She retired several years ago and moved south into warmer weather near San Diego, California. She began writing and painting full time and now enjoys writing stories for both children and adults. Recently, she painted two wall-sized murals at Children’s Hospital in San Diego and is scheduled to paint ten more in the pediatric section of Cassidy Medical Center in Oceanside, California. She also teaches science and writing to fourth and fifth graders as a volunteer at the elementary school near their home.

Ann, as Kathe Gogolewski, wrote an educational supplement for teachers to go with her book, TATO, a fantasy adventure for middle grade readers. She works in classrooms all over California engaging 4th and 5th graders in science experiments that explain certain illusions in her book.She has another book, science fiction with romantic elements called Flight of the Gryphon by Ann Durand, due for release from Double Dragon Publishing in December of 2006.

She has contributed to two anthologies this year. One, The Muse on Writing, is available from Double Dragon Publishing. The other, Spiritual Visitations, edited by Heather Froeschl, is due in 2008 from Zumaya Publications.

Kathe is a columnist for the ezine for writers, The Muse Marquee and a contributing writer for Ranch and Coast, San Diego’s Luxury Lifestyle Magazine. She has won awards for her books, short stories and poems. Her website is
